MEDIA Questions for How to Create
Your Own Luck
By Susan RoAne
Your forthcoming book is on a topic
that is different than your prior books. What made you go in this new direction?
What is the “You Never
Know “approach?
You say that phrase in a way that seems familiar to so many of us who have heard
it and we even say it. How common are those you never know events for the people
featured in your book.
What made you pay attention when
people have told you their stories?
Why is it important that we capture
and capitalize on coincidence?
The back cover says turning ‘serendipity
into success’. What is serendipity? Can you give us an example?
How is serendipity relevant to creating luck? What can our audience do to add
more serendipity in their lives?
In a Publishers Weekly
review, it stated that the stories are inspiring. They come from people across
the country…and even the world. How did you find these people and get
them to share their stories? .
The stories are strong, interesting
and very hopeful but I notice you have included POINTS TO PONDER
for most of the first stories in each chapter. Why?
You’re a speaker for corporations
and conventions. How do your audiences find you?
Tell us about the salad dressing
serendipity and its success.
There are several stories of people
who turn layoffs into a better job or even a new profession or a new business.
Would you share one of those uplifting and practical stories?
There are some exercises in the
book and even a section on how to look for a job. Why?
Your trademark Yiddish glossary
is always fun to read. How did that become to be?
How does the new topic relate to
your classic How To Work Room and The
Secrets of Savvy Networking?
Why did you decide to write How
To Create Your Own Luck?
Your chapters have interesting titles
that seem to be phrases that are familiar:
Lemons to Lemonade, It’s a Small World After All (with respect
to Mr. Disney), The Kindness of Strangers, Happy Accidents. The Mothers and
Fathers of Invention… how do they relate to those “you
never know “experiences that become ‘lucky ’.
You’re a former teacher and
now a best selling author and professional speaker. Some would say that is quite
a career change. How did that happen? Serendipity? You never know?
The subtitle mentions turning openness
into opportunity. How does being open play into the picture? Your website has
an 8 Step Plan To Create More Openness and Opportunities. Can
you give our listeners/viewers/readers that website? www.howtocreateyourownluck.com
Your book talks about the usual
Suspects of traits of those who turn serendipity to success but it clearly focuses
on what you found to be counterintuitive traits: The Unusual Suspects.
Can you tell the listeners how you discovered these traits? What are they? How
can we apply them?
You are known for the concept of SAVVY networking. Why and
how did you create that concept? How does that play into creating our own luck?
Where can we find more information?
If one of our listeners/readers/viewers has a great You Never Know story…
that turned into a Lucky one… how can they tell you?
